The following diagrams show all water quality parameters measured by the USGS program for two times of the year: January 28, 1997 and October 7, 1997. Scales are shown for all measurements.
Salinity Scale in psu (practical salinity units, about parts per thousand)
Temperature in degrees Celsium
Total suspended solids in mg/liter
Chlorophyll in mg/cubic meter
Dissolved oxygen in percent saturation

1. Compare data from the two times of year for each water quality data type and analyze the differences that are implied by the data. Items that should be included: (1) what type of Bay conditions are illustrated for each time period: stratified (salt-wedge or partially-mixed) or well mixed; (2) what is the salinity distribution in each case and why; (3) do suspended solid, chlorophyll, and dissolved oxygen concentrations correlate to salinity and to each other; (4) why do certain locations exhibit particularly high or low amounts of various water quality measurements.
